There are so many ways to take care of your mental health that do not involve sitting in an office. Today, I want to talk about alternative forms of mental health care.

First, let me say that when I discuss alternative forms of mental healthcare, I am in no way advising people not to seek professional help for your mental health. Kristen Martin, executive director at Thrive, stresses that for any person experiencing symptoms of mental illness, it is very important to find a therapist who can help.

However, it is also important to note that are alternatives to the traditional therapy model. For example, in Western North Carolina there are individual practices that offer all kinds of therapy from walking therapy to outdoor nature therapy sessions, while also having traditional sessions available in the office. It’s great to know that there are different options for all types of people.
