WICHITA, Kan (KSNW) – A Wichita hospital is using a tool to help COVID patients recover, and doctors say it is saving lives and helping to free up space in the ICU.

At Ascension Via Christi, 3 different machines are to giving oxygen support to patients. An invasive ventilator relies on a tube inserted into the patient’s mouth. A less invasive ventilator using a mask that goes over your nose and mouth and the heated high flow oxygen therapy– that machine goes into your nose allowing patients to talk and eat while recovering.

Police Investigate Murder Of Therapy Counselor Found Dead Tuesday

The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office and Ringgold Police Department are investigating the murder of 54-year-old Glenn Fraser, a therapy counselor, who was found deceased Tuesday afternoon in his office.

Sheriff Gary Sisk said deputies were called to 30 Hidden Trace Dr. at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after the counselor’s clients discovered Mr. Fraser deceased from multiple stab wounds in his office.

“Fraser’s clients were waiting for a scheduled meeting to begin when one of them opened a door to the counselor’s office to use a restroom and made the discovery,” Sheriff Sisk said. “We believe Fraser was alive early Tuesday

FDA Converts Indication for Pembrolizumab as Frontline Therapy for Bladder Cancer to Full Approval

The FDA has granted a full approval to pembrolizumab for the treatment of platinum-ineligible patients with urothelial cancer.

Antibody therapy shows efficacy in combating COVID, reports Durham’s Brii Biosciences

CHAPEL HILL – Brii Biosciences based in Durham, N.C., released interim data from a phase 2/3 ACTIV-2 study of a monoclonal antibody combination therapy BRII-196/BRII-198, which reduced COVID-19 hospitalizations and death by 78 percent in high-risk patients compared with placebo.

Leading Medical Journal Validates Potential of Zentalis-discovered Cancer Therapy

New York-headquartered Zentalis Pharmaceuticals has announced that its research findings on ZN-c3, a drug component it discovered for the potential treatment of cancer, now appear in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry

ZN-c3 is a WEE1 inhibitor that could be used as monotherapy for uterine serous carcinoma and solid tumors, and in combination with chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Inhibiting WEE1 has been observed to cause damage to the cancer cell DNA, eventually resulting in cell death. This mechanism thereby prevents the growth of tumors and could even lead to tumor regression.
